Free Technology for Teachers: 7 Good Screen Capture Tools for Teachers
Introducing new technology tools to your students or to your colleagues can become a frustrating exercise if you end up repeating the same step-by-step directions over and over again. Not only is it frustrating for you to repeat those directions, it can also be frustrating for the students who want to go ahead but can't because you're waiting until everyone is on the same page. One way to avoid that is to create annotated screen captures of the tools you're introducing. Another way to avoid repeating directions over and over again is to creating screencast videos in which you explain each step of the process. Here are seven tools that you can use to create annotated screen capture images and screencast videos.

50 Incredible Stop Motion Videos | Smashing Magazine
Stop motion animation is one of the hottest areas of film-making today. Stop motion is an animation art through which one can spring life in inanimate things and do the unnatural. It works by shooting a single frame of an object, then moving the object slightly, and then shooting another frame. When the film runs continuously in a film projector, or other video playback system, the illusion of fluid motion is created and the objects appear to move by themselves. This is similar to the animation of cartoons, but using real objects instead of drawings.

Free Technology for Teachers: Nearpod - Create Educational Mobile Content
Nearpod is an interesting new service that teachers can use to create, deliver, and monitor student use of educational content on iPads and iPods. Nearpod is still in a closed beta (they are looking for pilot schools), but what I have gathered about it so far indicates that teachers use it to create quizzes, polls, Q&A activities, and instructional presentations. Teachers using Nearpod to deliver quizzes and polls can look at students' responses individually or in aggreg

boarding school in the belief that it will give her opportunities they didn’t have, and so she will

Free Technology for Teachers: 47 Alternatives to Using YouTube in the Classroom
Some excellent educational content can be found onYouTube. However, many teachers cannot access YouTube in their classrooms. That is why I originally wrote what became one of the most popular posts to ever appear on Free Technology for Teachers, 30+ Alternatives to YouTube. That post is now fourteen months old and I've come across more alternatives in that time. Also in that time span some of the resources on the list have shut down. So it's time to update the list.

Most of us will probably agree that we will use Google as a default for searches on the internet. Market share statistics show that Google has the biggest % of the searchengine market with 65% share. It is also now commonly accepted as a Verb – It would sound quite strange to say “I’ll Yahoo that” but it shows just how prevalent Google has become, whilst Alta Vista and Lycos are names that conjure a hint of nostalgia and old school screen shots.
Those who have kept a close eye on all things Google over the last few years are wary of search results that it returns. Results that can be affected by the browser you are using, operators you choose, geographical location and decisions on which results to return based on previous searching history can be useful, but often give results that Google might think you want, rather than what you think you were looking for.tags: search searchengine semantic web
